Join us on Friday, October 23, from 6–8 PM for an evening of heat, spark, and flame at the Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center (CAFAC), located at 3749 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, MN.
The evening will feature an exhibition in the CAFAC Gallery showcasing contemporary sculptural works by CAFAC instructors, studio renters, and current residents.
During the reception, CAFAC instructors will demonstrate their crafts, culminating in a bronze pour featuring pieces created by community members and workshop participants.
The bronze pour will include vessels created by ISC attendees during workshops held on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as new additions to the ongoing George Floyd Square Bronze Project.
For the past six years, CAFAC has worked alongside community members to create this evolving collection. Participants are invited to take impressions of meaningful objects, textures, and details from George Floyd Square—a place that continues to change while holding deep historical and personal significance for our community. These impressions are then cast in bronze, creating lasting records of a place and moment in Minneapolis history.
Come experience the process, meet the artists, explore the exhibition, and witness molten bronze being transformed into objects that carry stories of community, place, and memory.
This Cultural Districts Art Fund program activity is funded, in part, by the Arts & Cultural Affairs Department in the City of Minneapolis
