ACCESSIBILITY POLICY

The Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center strives to provide an open working environment that is accessible to all. We recognize that some of the work done at our facility by its nature can be challenging to individuals with disabilities. Large-scale metalworking, welding, and blacksmithing require a certain level of physical mobility and upper body strength. CAFAC makes every effort to make our environment as inclusive as possible, and does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its services, programs or activities. Upon request, accommodation will be provided to allow individuals with disabilities to participate in all CAFAC services, programs, and activities to the greatest extent possible. 

CAFAC’s building is equipped with a lift for mobility impaired persons to access the mezzanine level. All building entrances are at ground level with no steps. Doors meet ADA width requirements and restrooms are designed to be accessible. Drinking fountains and eye wash stations are within accessible height requirements.

CAFAC has designated its Education & Access Coordinator to facilitate compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as required by Section 35.107 of the U.S. Department of Justice regulations, and to coordinate compliance with the Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as mandated by Section 504 8.53 of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Regulations.

Upon request, any of our information will be made available in alternative formats such as large print, audio recording, and or electronic files.
