The Eye Beholds Opening

  • Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center 3749 Chicago Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55407 (map)

Join us on March 30th at 6:30pm for the opening of Tamiko French’s exhibit “The Eye Beholds” It will take place in conjunction with our HotHouse, a gathering of community celebration with the opening of “The Eye Beholds”, demos from our instructors, community and light refreshments.

A world away from its reality, The Eye Beholds pulls you into an imagined layered earth energy scape filled with vibratory art made of copper and crystals, aromatherapy, herbs, sound healing, song, and spoken word woven together by threads of truth from the community that surrounds it.

From corner to corner of the gallery, Tamiko will build layered worlds that express her perceptions, wonderings, and dreams of the black embodied experience in this earth plane.

Once a month, the exhibit will hold a special event of live art. This will feature live Models that act as live sculpture. In addition, Members of the Minneapolis Community Standing in solidarity of the Black Lives Matter Movement and Mission of GFS, Healing Justice, and every layer of the black experience will be curated as the guest speaker for a 30 minute talk on their perception and what they have beheld in the last 2 years. As they step through the threshold that border the 2 worlds, the individual is transformed by Tamiko with royal adornments, and shares their beholden perspective of the present state, past, of even the future. Community musicians and vocalists will also be included.

This exhibit will be open to the public through June 30th. You won’t want to miss it.
